Tainan Included In National Geographic Traveler’s The Cool List 2024

UK’s National Geographic Traveler recently published its “The Cool List 2024”. Out of 30 locations worldwide, Tainan is the only city in Taiwan on the list due to its historic architecture and distinctive snacks. According to the magazine article, Tainan is worth a visit as it is the former capital of Taiwan and has unique historical features.

Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che expressed that Tainan has a rich cultural legacy. He recommends the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Service to overseas visitors as an easy way to visit and experience the abundant historical architecture as well as snack places and restaurants that have been passed down from generation to generation spread throughout Greater Tainan’s 37 districts. Furthermore, to celebrate the Tainan 400 event next year, the city government will host a series of activities, including the Taiwan Lantern Festival and the International Orchid Show, and everyone is invited to join the fun and sample Tainan’s delicacies.

According to the National Geographic Traveler article, Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan and is about to host the city’s quadricentennial. Besides describing Tainan’s historical Dutch and Japanese influences, it highlights the city’s abundance of historical structures and diverse food options, and especially mentions Tainan’s famous Yanshui Beehive Fireworks.
