Tainan City’s Yeh Shih-Tao Literature Memorial Museum and Longci Light Festival Win German iF Design Award

Tainan City’s Yeh Shih-Tao Literature Memorial Museum has been upgrading its infrastructure and recently the museum’s Literary Space was awarded the German iF Design Award. Another entry from Tainan which beat over ten-thousand global entries and won the iF Design Award - Cultural Exhibition Category is the 3rd Longci Light Festival titled “Void Mountain: Bad Lands and Hidden Waters”. The event used stalactite caves (“light caves”) as its main visual concept and is curated by artist Xin Qi (Kiki Shing).

This is another international award win for the Yeh Shih-Tao Literature Memorial Museum after the Italian A’ Design Award and Taiwan’s Golden Pin Design Award. The museum reopened in 2021 with a new design inspired by the five senses (eyesight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell) to provide visitors with a more immersive literature experience and create a literature space that is inspiring, comfortable, and relaxing.

The annual Longci Light Festival attracts over 100,000 visitors every year and is the first major art event hosted in Longci District by the Tainan City Government. Installation artworks created via interactions between artists, local residents, and the surrounding environment are displayed in Huxingshan Park. This event is a chance for Longci to present its rich culture and history as well as its vibrant natural environment and resources.

Starting from 1954, iF International Forum Design GmbH organizes the iF Design Award every year. Recognized as one of the world’s most significant design competitions, this is the oldest design event in the world and is often referred to as “the Oscars of the design circle”. The iF Design Award attracts more than 5,000 entries from over 70 countries annually.
