Tainan Establishes the First On-Line Operations Coordination Center (OLOCC) for Real-time, Remote Medical Care Coordination

Tainan is the first nationwide to establish an On-Line Operations Coordination Center (OLOCC), which is developed based on the disaster response concept of On-Site Operations Coordination Center (OSOCC) by the United Nations.

Mayor Huang Wei-che completed a video conference connection test with 14 hospitals in Tainan in charge of treating COVID-19 patients, as well as with decision makers from the epidemic prevention and control team and CDC’s Southern District Control Center. This marks the official launch of the OLOCC. During the video conference, every hospital reported the live screening of how visitors swiped their National Health Insurance cards when entering hospitals. Conference participants also conducted real-time inventory and coordination of hospital beds and manpower.

Starting from today (January 25), all citizens entering hospitals and public health clinics should first swipe their National Health Insurance cards and report their contact history. To avoid hospital cluster infection, all hospitals must tighten management measures concerning care workers. The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it has imposed the home isolation measure for the three groups of people identified as persons related to the Taoyuan General Hospital cluster infection from January 6 and January 19. The three groups of people listed below are subjected to home isolation:

  1. Patients who had been discharged during the specified time period and people who live with those patients;
  2. People who had accompanied patients to that hospital during the specified time period and people who live with them;
  3. Individuals who came into contact with Case #889 when he sought medical attention.

Tainan City’s Public Health Bureau once again urges those under home isolation, home quarantine, or personal health management to strictly refrain from visiting hospitals during the period, and also to avoid visiting public places where they cannot properly maintain social distance, where they cannot wear masks at all times, or where they might be in close contact with the general public. If you experience COVID-19-related symptoms and require medical treatment, please do not visit the hospital by yourself. Please first contact the Public Health Bureau's hotline (06-2880180) for dedicated staff to help arrange medical treatment.
