Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum Hosted In Tainan For The First Time, Mayor Looks Forward To More Industry Interactions And Collaborations

Domestic and foreign expo participants and buyers flocked to the central and southern regions of Taiwan, where the major production sites of the nation’s agriculture, fishery, and livestock industries are located, for the 8th Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum. The event, which opened on June 19 at the Tainan Convention and Exhibition Center, was hosted for the first time in Tainan and had booths set up by around 400 producers and companies from 11 countries.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che expressed that this Expo features many advanced technologies from countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark, and others; and these new tools can help Taiwan and the world move towards a greener, low-carbon, and eco-friendly future. In addition to having a vibrant animal husbandry sector, Tainan is an important agricultural zone with active farmers and robust agriculture and farming village ecologies. Tainan looks forward to leveraging science and technology advances to make agricultural development processes more eco-friendly and reduce costs to enhance product competitiveness.

The theme of this year’s Expo centers around Sustainability, Innovation, and Environmental Protection while promoting industry transformation and upgrading. According to the Tainan City Government, sustainability and recycling actions have become emerging hot topics recently in attempts to stabilize the output of agriculture, fishery, and livestock sectors in the face of challenges such as climate change and insufficient labor. A growing number of individuals are becoming conscious of issues such as the sustainability of agriculture practices and social resources, the replenishment and protection of agricultural germplasm, and the innovation of smart drip irrigation. The public and private sectors are also encouraged to work together to promote the new green industrial revolution, realize circular economy, and incorporate AI into smart agricultural designs.

The Agriculture Bureau pointed out that this year’s Expo is a rare professional event that encompasses many fields. Featured technologies cover seed and seed seedlings, smart agricultural facilities, cold chain technology, labor-saving machinery, livestock feed, smart livestock and poultry raising equipment, fishing, and smart aqua farming equipment. The goal is to expand the market for Taiwan’s high-quality agrotechnology while helping local farmers and vendors utilize new technology to increase the sustainability of agriculture.
