Thirty-six eateries in Tainan were listed in the well-known international food guide Bib Gourmand released on August 23, 2023. The city, which was featured in the guide for the first time last year, celebrates the distinction of having the most new entries - 10 new entries – this year.

Mayor Huang Wei-che expressed that Tainan’s unique culinary techniques and features are the product of 400 years of interactions and fusion between various cultures. Tainan now has a global reputation as a “Delicacy Capital” and the Mayor is very happy to see that the local businesses’ hard work is recognized. The city government will continue to promote Tainan’s diverse and rich cuisine next year during the Tainan 400 event as well as other major events such as the Taiwan Lantern Festival and the Taiwan International Orchid Show. Visitors from home and abroad are invited to follow the Bib Gourmand and seek out Tainan’s affordable and delicious delicacies.

Director of Tainan’s Bureau of Tourism Lin Kuo-hua explained that the Bib Gourmand is a distinction given to businesses that offer a three-course meal for under NTD 1,000 (approx. USD 34). Tainan has excellent affordable delicacies, and the 10 new entries include 7 snack eateries. Director Lin also said that Tainan’s 37 districts have a variety of delicious food that is worth exploring and invited everyone to discover and create their own Tainan delicacy map.
