Large Animated Map At Fort Zeelandia Museum Displays Tainan’s Evolution In The Past 400 Years

A new permanent exhibition at the Fort Zeelandia Museum inside Anping Fort is being put together by the Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau for the Tainan 400 event. The new exhibition employs modern technology and multimedia animation art to present the geographical transformation of Tainan over the past 400 years.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau expressed that the entrance image is an important component of the museum’s overall spatial planning. It should not only showcase the characteristics and symbolism of the venue but also give the visitors a strong first impression. This map of Anping is a combined product of maps produced by people from different countries during various historical periods. Through abstract and tangible visualizations, the data is transformed into designs of moving images and changing sounds, making it more appealing than static maps.

The new exhibition at Fort Zeelandia Museum, titled From Dayuan to Taiwan, chronicles Tainan’s interactions with the world and different ethnic groups over the past four centuries. The exhibition is expected to be officially opened on September 23, 2023, one hundred days before the year 2024.
