The Regional Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung TPASS (NTD 999 per month) is now available! This July, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County jointly hosted the Regional Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung TPASS - Executive Yuan Commuter Monthly Pass Launch Press Conference during which they announced the official launch of the TPASS monthly pass and witnessed the start of a new era in southern Taiwan public transportation.
On behalf of Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che, Deputy Mayor Yeh Tse-shan thanked the Central Government for long supporting the development of Tainan City’s public transportation. In addition to the 6 major bus line services launched by Vice President William Lai during his term as Mayor of Tainan City, 31 Taxi-Buses routes were rolled out by Mayor Huang Wei-che, who actively sought subsidies for the project, to further improve rural public transportation. Taxi-bus fares are also covered in the monthly pass. Through the collaborations between Central and local governments as well as the public and private sectors, we can work together to realize transportation equity and offer people-oriented green transportation.
The Bureau of Transportation reminded commuters that they need to purchase a Tainan TPASS card regardless of the plan they use (NT 299, NT 399, or NT 999). Empty cards can be purchased at the 37 District Offices as well as highway bus stations, transfer stations, and Tainan and Xinying Railway Stations. After signing up and linking the card with your membership through the MeNGo Platform app or website, you can select the most cost-effective monthly pass plan that suits your needs. The NT 399 and NT 999 monthly pass plans also cover Taiwan Railways train fares and are available at the ticketing counters of every Tainan City train station (Balin Station excluded).
The Public Transportation Office remarked the reason that they launched the three commuter plans: the Unlimited Tainan City Bus NTD 299 pass, the Unlimited Tainan City Bus + Train NTD 399 pass, and the Unlimited Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung NTD 999 Pass, is because every month around 100,000 commuters travel between Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung. Travelers with the Unlimited NT 999 pass, which is the monthly plan that covers the most transportation means in Taiwan, have unlimited access to the metro, Taiwan Railway trains, city buses, Taxi-Buses, highway buses, public bicycles (free for the first 30 minutes), and ferries (Gushan - Qijin, Qianzhen - Zhongzhou).
