Tainan 400 Unveils First Special Exhibition When Oceans Meet: Art Exchange Exhibition between Taiwan and the Netherlands. Mayor: Come Appreciate The Interactions Between Taiwan and The Netherlands During The Age of Discovery

Tainan 400 has officially unveiled its first special exhibition - When Oceans Meet: Art Exchange Exhibition between Taiwan and the Netherlands - at the A1, A2, and A5 exhibition halls of Siao-Long Cultural Park. The concept “Tainan, Where you belong” is presented through three sub-themes: “Ocean, Land, and Archaeology”, “Scenes and Nostalgia”, and “Space and Memory”.

 

Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che expressed that this exhibition is about the interactions between Taiwan and the Netherlands during the Age of Discovery and he sincerely invited friends from home and abroad to visit the exhibition and explore the past of Tainan and Taiwan. The Cultural Affairs Bureau also pointed out that this exhibition is an important highlight of the Tainan 400 event series. In addition to displaying Tainan’s charm and creativity to the world, it shows Tainan as an open, inclusive, and international city that is dedicated to promoting the exchange and development of art and culture.

 

The When Oceans Meet: Art Exchange Exhibition between Taiwan and the Netherlands exhibition, which will be held till January 7, 2024, looks back on the historical and cultural aspects of Tainan as an ocean city and also explores the strong historical, artistic, and cultural connections between Tainan and the Netherlands. Six artists from the Netherlands and Tainan were invited to create six sets of art installations for the event.
