Tainan’s Exclusive Reading Website for Kindergarteners Book Little Planet Sees Positive Results

Tainan’s Book Little Planet website (https://kread.tn.edu.tw/), the city’s exclusive reading platform for kindergarteners, officially went live on February 10 this year and is already showing successful results. Mayor Huang Wei-che commended the Bureau of Education’s dedication and efforts in improving the local children’s reading and composition writing skills.

The Mayor pointed out that Tainan City is the only city in Taiwan where every public kindergarten provides at least three picture book reading sessions per week. To further encourage reading among kindergarteners, the city government launched the Book Little Planet reading platform this February. The books selected and displayed on the website are expected to inspire young readers and nourish their knowledge.

Bureau of Education Director-general Cheng Hsin-hui explained that Book Little Planet is a meticulously designed website which lists 200 selected books suitable for kindergarten teachers and students to read together. The books can inspire the children to read more and stimulate their comprehension capabilities as well as help them accumulate more knowledge before they enter elementary school.

By the end of this May, the Book Little Planet website has accumulated over 19,286 reading entries within three months. A total of 436 classes from 200 schools have logged onto the website, and on average, each class holds more than three reading sessions per week.
