First Container Freight Station In Greater Tainan Region Inaugurated, Mayor Huang Wei-Che Hopes Anping Harbor’s Business Skyrockets With Tainan’s Economy

The first container freight station (CFS) in the Greater Tainan region was officially inaugurated at Anping Commercial Port on Oct. 25. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che was present to witness this new milestone of Anping Harbor’s container logistics development. The development of Anping Commercial Port follows the concept of “Tourism in the North and Free Trade in the South”, and the establishment of the CFS is part of the “Free Trade in the South” vision.

Huang expressed that the new CFS supports the foundation of developing regular near-sea shipping lines in the future. The station can not only service the entire Greater Tainan region but also provide container logistics and freight services to industries in Yunlin and Jiayi.

The Major also pointed out that Tainan is Taiwan’s oldest city and Anping Harbor has long been an important international port of Taiwan since the Age of Discovery. He hopes that the city government team keeps on working with other related agencies to boost Anping Harbor’s business and let both the Harbor’s and Tainan’s economic activities increase significantly.

With a total area of 2.5 hectares, the new container freight station features a 5,000-sq. meter modernized free-trade logistics warehouse and two high-spec warehouses that meet fire regulations for hazardous items. It also has over two hundred storage spaces for refrigerated containers and over a hundred storage spaces for general containers. The objective is to integrate and link together container logistics services such as ocean shipping, loading and unloading, storage, and transportation to provide better overall services at Anping Commercial Port.
