To express gratitude for additional 1.13 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by Japan, Mayor Huang Wei-che will send high-quality Tainan mangoes as a gift in return. (2021/07/07)

On July 6, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi announced to provide Taiwan with another 1.13 million doses of AstraZeneca (AZ) Vaccine, which will be delivered on July 8. This is the second donation since Japan had provided 1.24 doses of AZ vaccine to Taiwan on June 4. Minister Motegi reiterated Japan’s appreciation to Taiwan for its generous supports during 311 Eastern Japan Earthquake; Japan will provide prompt assistance when Taiwan is suffering from vaccine shortages.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che once again thanks Japanese good friends for donating 1.13 million doses of AZ vaccine. At the moment when the demand of vaccine far exceeds supply globally, Japan timely reaches out its helping hand to donate additional amount of vaccine, marking a great contribution to disease prevention and control in Taiwan. Mayor Huang would like to express sincere appreciation to Japanese government and people, and he wore a face mask printing with “Thanks Japan” characters when attending Tainan City Government’s disease and prevention press conference held today (July 6).

Since Tainan mangoes have just started to export to Japan this year, Mayor Huang will send these mangoes to Japanese good friends, such as some friendship cities and congress members that are friendly to Taiwan, in order to express Tainan’s heartfelt appreciation.
