Huang Wei-che Inspects Epidemic Prevention Supply Production Status, Emphasizes Supplies Are Ample, No Need to Hoard

As COVID-19 cases continue to emerge in Taiwan, the nation raises its coronavirus alert system level to level three. In mid-May, Mayor Huang Wei-che inspected Longtian Distillery and face mask production factory GRANDE to understand the status of epidemic prevention supply productions. After thanking the businesses for manufacturing the products, the Mayor stressed that there are sufficient staple merchandise and epidemic prevention supplies and the public does not need to hoard.

Huang Wei-che expressed that Tainan City has thirteen factories manufacturing medical-grade face masks and can produce around 2.82 million masks per day. Inspectors who were sent out to pharmacies and the top four convenience stores reported that Tainan currently has sufficient face mask supply and the prices are stable. As for rubbing alcohol, Huang pointed out that after Longtian Distillery added one more shift, the factory can now produce 140,000 bottles of rubbing alcohol per day. In addition, Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation and private-owned distilleries have joined the national rubbing alcohol production team, therefore the Mayor asked the public not to hoard disinfection alcohol at home to avoid unnecessary fire risks.

Mayor Huang also asked the public to carry out personal protective measures such as washing their hands often and wearing face masks all the time when they are outside. In order to safeguard our communities, residents should cut down unnecessary outings, activities, events, or gatherings; and comply with epidemic prevention policies. Tainan City Government will also conduct rolling reviews on related policies and adjust them accordingly.
