Singers Martin Hurkens and Mary-Jess Visit Chimei Museum; Mayor Huang Wei-che Reaffirms Tainan’s Status as Taiwan’s Cultural Capital

g at several year-end events in Tainan, the two have also visited famous destinations in Tainan during their free time. On December 17, they visited one of Tainan’s most popular tourist destinations—Chimei Museum.

Mayor Huang Wei-che was delighted that Hurkens and Mary Jess visit the museum. He further explained that Hsu Wen-lung, founder of the Chi Mei Corporation, spent decades collecting works of art from all around the world. Hsu displayed his valuable collection at Chimei Museum, which enabled locals to appreciate Western art without having to go abroad. This is an excellent example of why Tainan has been dubbed the Cultural Capital of Taiwan.

Curator Kuo Ling-ling accompanied Hurkens and Mary-Jess on their visit and arranged for them to see the special exhibition, Origami Universe II. In addition to exclaiming at the museum’s sizable collection, Hurkens and Mary-Jess also expressed their amazement at the content of the special exhibit. They found it interesting how paper, a seemingly ordinary object, could take so many different shapes and forms. They were extremely happy to have spent an afternoon in a place with such a great cultural atmosphere.
