Tainan’s COVID-19 Prevention and Control Measures In Response to Upcoming New Year Countdown Events

Three new year countdown events are scheduled in Tainan. To ensure the health and safety of all citizens while enjoying these events, Tainan City Government has announced the following measures for these large-scale gatherings. The public is advised to observe these disease prevention and control regulations.

On December 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one locally- transmitted case of COVID-19. The contact origin is clear without signs of community spread. New Year's Eve events could still be held, but participants must abide by all pandemic prevention and control guidelines, as follows:

1. Participants shall wear a mask all the time throughout the event, both during indoor and outdoor events.

2. Event organizers shall avoid selling or providing food and beverages. Participants shall refrain from consuming food, unless social distance can be maintained. If consuming food is necessary, please finish before entering the venue.

3. For events with designated entrance points, event organizers shall take participants' temperature and disinfect their hands before they enter the venue. People who have fever or experience suspected symptoms are prohibited from entering. Event organizers shall try best effort to keep a record of contact details of participants attending such events.

4. Event organizers shall clean and sanitize public restrooms and portable restrooms frequently.

5. Event organizers shall provide ample supplies of hand sanitization products and hand washing facilities.

6. No standing tickets shall be sold. Assigned seating arrangement is required for indoor events.

7. The following persons may not attend such year-end events, stay at home and rest, watch live broadcasts, and also go to the doctors when necessary: People under home quarantine or home isolation, people subjected to self-health management, people who are experiencing suspected symptoms, including a fever, respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, and an abnormal sense of smell and taste; event performers and staff shall also abide by this rule.

8. Maintain outdoor social distancing of at least one meter, wash and sanitize hands frequently, and pay close attention to cough etiquette.

9. Arrange contingency measures and designate isolation areas for medical professionals.

10. Those who refuse to comply with the regulations after being advised are subject to penalties that range from NT$3,000 to NT$15,000.

As we enter the fall and winter seasons, the global COVID-19 outbreak is still very intense. The success of Taiwan’s COVID-19 prevention and control depends on the joint efforts of both the government and the private sector. Citizens must cooperate with the government in complying with various epidemic prevention measures.
