Tainan Adds One Confirmed COVID-19 Case, One of the 21 Confirmed Dunmu Navy Fleet Members (update:4/24)

On April 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that 21 newly added COVID-19 cases are Navy members serving on the Dunmu (敦睦) Fleet, including one member from Tainan. As of writing, 15 cases have been confirmed in Tainan: 13 are imported, one is indigenous, and one is from the Dunmu Fleet.

 

 

 This navy member is a male in his thirties. The following are his activity records in the recent days:

April 16

15:12-18:25 Went to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store 6F
18:25-20:00 Stayed at EasyInn Hotel & Hostel in Central-Western District.
20:00-22:00 Went to Garden Night Market.
22:00-24:00 Dined at Cha-tong composite restaurant in Central-Western District.

April 17

00:00-10:30 Stayed at EasyInn Hotel & Hostel in Central-Western District.
13:35-13:51 Went to Song-yi vehicle maintenance shop in Yong Kang District.
14:26-14:42 Went to E-champ Zhong Hua Clinic in East District.

April 18

10:40 Shopped at 7-11 at Zhong-shan Road, Rende District.
12:26-12:33 Shopped at the Family Convenience Store at Tainan Transit Station in North District.
12:33-18:18 Stayed at Tainan Park in North District.

 

The disease investigation unit has already identified 3 people and notified them to undergo home quarantine. They must disinfect their homes by adhering to instructions offered by the health center staff. Shin Kong Department Store shuts down for a day to allow cleaning companies to fully sanitize all areas and ensure safety and hygiene. 

 

Another confirmed case from Chiayi City visited Tainan City’s T.S. Dream Mall and dined at the Mo-Mo-Paradise Sukiyaki Restaurant between 12:30pm to 2:30pm on April 17. He then went to SWS KTV between 2:30pm to 5:40pm. Tainan City Government has requested T.S. Dream Mall and SWS KTV to strengthen their sanitization efforts and thoroughly clean the shop floors.

 

For those whose path might have overlapped with the activities and traces listed above, Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che reminds about the importance of self-health management, hand hygiene, and cough etiquette. For those with suspicious symptoms, such as fever or coughing, please call CDC Disease Reporting and Consultation Hotline 1922 or contact local health center at 06-288-0180. In such a case, please follow instructions for medical support, refrain from taking public transportation, and fully disclose your TOCC information to the doctors, including travel records, occupation, contact history, and clusters of cases detected, so as to ensure timely diagnosis and reporting.
