Hospitals and Nursing Care Facilities in Tainan City Suspend Visitation between January 27 to February 28 in Response to Hospital Cluster Infection in Northern Taiwan

In response to tightened disease prevention and control measures by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), Tainan City Government has suspended visitation to all 36 hospitals and nurse care institutions in Tainan between January 27 to February 28. Family members are encouraged to use phone calls or video conference instead. The exceptions to hospital visitor restrictions refer to urgent and necessary visiting needs assessed by the doctors at intensive care units and hospice wards.

Only one individual is allowed to accompany a patient at all times, whether the individual is a family member, a care worker employed by the family or a care worker dispatched by care institutions. All citizens should adhere to disease control and real-name registration measures implemented by organizations and avoid unnecessary movements or conversations. Everyone should conduct strict personal management (wear masks, wash hands frequently and take temperatures). For those experiencing suspected COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, or abnormal sense of smell and taste, please take the initiative in contacting health facilities or calling the city’s hotline (06-2880180) for professional assistance.

The Tainan City Government also reminds all citizens to avoid visiting hospitals or care facilities, and reminds residents at care facilities to refrain from leaving their facilities unless there are urgent medical needs.
