VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup Officially Kicks Off On July 29, Foreign Representatives Send Their Best Wishes Via Videos

The VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Championship will be held between July 29 and August 7 at the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers. Tainan City Government held an opening press conference on July 28 during which Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che, WBSC Executive Director Michael Schmidt, and Chinese Taipei Baseball Association President Jeffrey Koo Jr. jointly kicked off this year’s event.

Mayor Huang pointed out that Tainan is considered a significant U-12 Baseball development location, thus it is very meaningful for the city to host four consecutive editions of the games and Tainan is happy to organize this event on behalf of Taiwan.  The Mayor expressed that he wishes the international games will encourage the children to improve their skills and make international friends, and hopes that the city can host more international games and welcome more international athletes to Taiwan in the future.

This WBSC Championship is the first international sports event hosted by Tainan city since the COVID-19 pandemic breakout. Outstanding young athletes from Mexico, Venezuela, Italy, South Africa, Panama, Japan, Korea, the US, Czech Republic, and Dominica assembled in Tainan to compete for the World Championship. Foreign representatives in Taiwan from countries such as Mexico and others recorded videos to send their best wishes for a successful game and show their support to Taiwan and Tainan.
