Belize Prime Minister John Briceño Visits Taiwan Orchid Plantation In Houbi, Delegation Admires Taiwan’s Orchid Biotech Capabilities

Prime Minister of Belize John Briceño led a delegation to Taiwan at the invitation of the R.O.C government. During their meeting, President Tsai Ing-wen recommended that the group should go to Tainan and enjoy the orchids. The Belizean delegation visited Symon Agricultural Biotech. Co. at the Taiwan Orchid Plantation in Houbi, Tainan, on Mar. 11. The group was accompanied by Vice President William Lai and Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che. 

 

Mayor Huang introduced the Butterfly Orchid, Tainan’s city flower, to the foreign visitors and gifted them with silk scarves and neckties with orchid prints as a souvenir of their visit to Tainan. The Mayor also expressed his thanks to Prime Minister Briceño and the Belizean Government for their continuous support of Taiwan on the international stage and constantly speaking up for Taiwan. He looks forward to more extended and in-depth interactions between Taiwan and Belize in the future.

 

Briceño visited Taiwan 16 years ago and this is his first visit to Taiwan as Prime Minister. This visit is very meaningful in terms of enhancing the interactions and relationship between the two countries. The delegation visited Tainan at the invitation of Vice President William Lai. In addition to observing the multi-colored orchids created with nanotechnology at Symon Agricultural Biotech, the delegation also visited Chimei Museum and Prime Minister Briceño received an honorary doctorate from Kun Shan University.
