Japanese Government Donates Another 1 Million Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine: Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che Expresses Gratitude to “Real Friend” Japan (2021/06/25)

Today (June 25), Japanese Government announced to donate another 1 million doses of AstraZeneca(AZ) vaccine to Taiwan. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che showed his gratitude to Japan.

“Besides the prior-donated 1.24 million doses of AZ vaccine, Japan will donate another 1 million doses of the vaccine to Taiwan. Japan is literally a friend indeed,” said the Mayor. He is also grateful for the constant support from the United States, Lithuania, and other friendly nations that reached out to Taiwan. Mayor Huang promised Tainan will work hard to increase its vaccination rate and to get citizens’ lives back on track as soon as possible.

In addition, the “Relief Package 4.0” released by the Executive Yuan will for the first time expand the relief subsidies to foreigners who are permanent residents in Taiwan. Mayor Huang agrees with the policy made by central government that benefits Japanese expatriates in Tainan and treats them as family members of Taiwan. Japanese expat Mr. Takao Nozaki expressed his appreciation to Mayor Huang today, bringing out the robust Taiwan-Japan ties.
